Durability and vandal-resistance are equally critical. Machines placed in public spaces are highly susceptible to impacts, forced entry, and vandalism. Designs must incorporate reinforced structures, shatter-resistant screens, and high-security locking mechanisms to protect the valuable internal electronics and coin mechanisms.

Power supply and connectivity also pose significant challenges. Outdoor installations often require more complex electrical setups with dedicated, weatherproof conduits. Reliable internet connectivity for score tracking or online features can be problematic in remote semi-outdoor locations like parks or boardwalks.

Finally, maintaining a high-quality user experience is paramount. Screens must be extremely bright to combat glare from direct sunlight, and speakers must be powerful enough to overcome ambient noise while being protected from the elements. All these factors combine to make outdoor arcade design a complex balance of resilience, security, and fun, ultimately leading to a higher per-unit cost but enabling entertainment in entirely new settings.
