When it comes to arcade game aesthetics, the choice between LCD and CRT displays significantly impacts the visual experience. CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitors, the original choice for classic arcade cabinets, deliver a distinct retro charm with their scan lines, phosphor glow, and softer edges. These characteristics enhance the nostalgic feel of pixel art and older games, creating a warmer, more authentic look.

On the other hand, LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screens offer sharper, crisper images with higher resolutions and no flickering. While this clarity benefits modern games, it can make older pixel-based graphics appear overly sharp or artificial, losing some of the original artistic intent. LCDs also lack the natural color blending and motion blur of CRTs, which some players argue detracts from the vintage arcade experience.
